The municipality is large and consists of the town centre plus several village centres. The services, shops and most of the built-up housing are around Erkontie in the centre. The business and employment areas lie towards Pennala, Artjärvi forms the eastern part of the municipality as a village centre of its own, and Henna station in the south, on the Riihimäki to Lahti railway, serves a new residential area and rail passengers. The closest municipality to the capital region
Orimattila sits in the southern corner of Päijät-Häme, and that shows directly in journey times. Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is about 95 kilometres away, a drive of roughly an hour and 10 minutes, while from central Lahti it is about 110 kilometres and 60–90 minutes. Central Helsinki and the harbours are likewise closer than from the northern parts of the region. Tell us your departure time when you book and we will set the pick-up accordingly.
The other side of the same fact is that Orimattila is within commuting distance of both Lahti and the capital region. Some residents work in Lahti and some in the south, and rides run in both directions. Morning journeys often head for stations and meetings, afternoon journeys home.
