FLF Taxi

Taxi from Lahti to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport

A fixed price, flight tracking and a pick-up from your own door. The journey is about 110 kilometres and usually takes 60–90 minutes.

Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is about 110 kilometres from Lahti and the drive usually takes 60–90 minutes. FLF runs this route from its Lahti office at Asentajankatu 1, and an airport transfer is always worth booking in advance. You then get a fixed price up front, the driver knows your departure time and the car is at your door at the agreed moment. A saloon car carries 1–4 passengers and a minivan taxi 1+8, so the same booking works for a lone business traveller and for a whole family going on holiday.

An airport run is the one journey where being late costs the most. That is why we set the pick-up time according to your departure time, the type of flight and the hour of day. Morning rush hour on the Lahdenväylä motorway and Ring Road III takes noticeably longer than midday, and the same applies to afternoon traffic heading towards Helsinki. Give us the flight number and departure time when you book, and we will propose a pick-up time that leaves room for check-in, bag drop and security.

On the return journey we track the arrival time, so a delayed or early flight does not leave you without a ride. The pick-up is agreed either outside the terminal or, by arrangement, in the arrivals hall where the driver waits with a name sign. The price is fixed and depends on the distance, the time of day, the vehicle size, the number of passengers and any waiting time. Congestion does not raise an agreed price. Passenger transport carries 14% VAT, and prices for businesses are quoted excluding VAT.

Distance, driving time and rush hours

The route from Lahti to the airport follows the Lahdenväylä motorway (national road 4) to the Ring Road III junctions and on to the terminals. In normal traffic the drive takes about an hour, but at peak times it is worth allowing 90 minutes. The slowest periods are the weekday morning and afternoon peaks, when the motorway and Ring Road III both build up towards the capital region.

In winter it is sensible to add a small extra buffer. The motorway runs the whole way, but snowfall and black ice bring speeds down, and departures for the first morning flights leave Lahti in the dark. Our drivers cover this route constantly, check the traffic situation on the morning of departure and leave earlier when needed without you having to ask.

We collect you from whichever address you give us: your front door in central Lahti, Mukkula, Jalkaranta or the Karisto area, a hotel entrance or the Matkakeskus travel centre. Pick-ups from the neighbouring municipalities of Hollola, Nastola, Orimattila and Asikkala work the same way, with the distance to the airport ranging from about 95 to 135 kilometres depending on the direction.

When to leave Lahti before your flight

Work out your departure in two parts: the driving time from Lahti to the airport, and how long you want to be in the terminal before take-off. Always check your own airline's advice on check-in and bag drop deadlines, as these vary by airline and by type of flight.

Domestic flight

The drive from Lahti takes 60–90 minutes. Add the time you want to spend in the terminal and tell us the pick-up time when you book.

Schengen flight

With checked baggage, bag drop takes its own time. Check your airline's recommended terminal time and add the 60–90 minute drive to it.

Outside Schengen

Allow for passport control and longer queues in your terminal time. The drive from Lahti is the same 60–90 minutes, and we set the pick-up from the departure time you give us.

First morning flights

Early in the morning the roads are clear and the drive is closer to an hour. Tell us the departure time and we will agree the pick-up with you.

A fixed price and what it is based on

For an airport transfer booked in advance we give a fixed price, told to you before the journey, which does not change while you travel.

  • Distance: the pick-up address in Lahti or a nearby municipality and the destination terminal set the kilometres.
  • Time: night and small-hours pick-ups and public holidays are priced differently from an ordinary weekday.
  • Vehicle type: a saloon car for 1–4 passengers, a minivan taxi for 1+8, or an accessible vehicle with a wheelchair space.
  • Waiting: if the driver waits for an arriving flight or a connection, the waiting time is agreed in the price up front.
  • Recurrence: regular business flights get a contract price that stays the same every time.
  • Traffic does not count: the agreed price holds even if Ring Road III is at a standstill.

Passengers, luggage and sports equipment

  • 1–4 passengers: a saloon car such as a Toyota Camry Hybrid, Tesla Model 3 or Mercedes-Benz E-Class, with a normal amount of luggage.
  • 5–8 passengers: a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or Volkswagen Crafter minivan taxi, 1+8 seats and room for suitcases at the back.
  • Skis, snowboards and golf bags travel upright or lengthways in a minivan taxi. Mention the equipment when booking so we assign the right vehicle.
  • Wheelchair passengers: an accessible Sprinter, Crafter or VW Caddy Maxi with a lift or ramp, wheelchair restraints and a seat belt.
  • Groups of more than eight travel in two or more minivan taxis leaving at the same time. We do not operate buses for more than 8 passengers.
  • Child seats: tell us the child's age and weight when booking and the seat will be fitted in advance.

Flight tracking, waiting and the return ride

When you give the flight number at booking, the driver can see the arrival time and times the pick-up accordingly. If the flight is an hour late, the car comes an hour later and the waiting is not charged because of the delay. If the aircraft lands early, the driver is there earlier. You do not need to call and move the booking from the plane.

The pick-up point is agreed in advance. The most common is the taxi rank outside the terminal, from where the driver calls or messages once you have landed. If the passenger is elderly, a child travelling alone or someone who needs help moving, the driver can by arrangement come into the arrivals hall with a name sign and help with the luggage to the car.

It is worth agreeing the return ride in the same booking as the outbound one. Both legs are then on record, you get a fixed price for each, and you avoid arriving on a late flight and hoping a car happens to be free. If the return date is still open, you can confirm it later and the agreed pricing still applies.

Business flights and night-time departures

Recurring business flights

If your staff fly regularly, contract pricing and a dedicated booking channel save time. See our corporate account and invoicing page for details.

One invoice a month

All the month's airport transfers on a single invoice, itemised by passenger or cost centre. Prices quoted excluding VAT.

Nights and small hours

Pick-ups between 02:00 and 05:00 are routine on airport work. Booking a night ride in advance matters more than during the day, because fewer cars are out on the road.

Collecting guests

Guests arriving from abroad are met in the arrivals hall with a name sign and driven to your office or hotel in Lahti. The driver speaks English.

Pricing

We do not publish a price list for airport transfers, because the price depends on the pick-up address, the time of day, the vehicle size, the number of passengers and any waiting time. For advance bookings we give a fixed price, told to you before the journey. Passenger transport carries 14% VAT, and prices for businesses are quoted excluding VAT. You will usually have a quote on the same working day.

Fixed one-off price

A single flight outbound, inbound or both. You know the price before you travel and traffic does not change it.

Minivan taxi price

Five to eight passengers in one vehicle is often cheaper than two saloon cars on the same journey.

Contract price

A company's recurring business flights at the same price every time, on one consolidated invoice each month.

Ask for an airport transfer price

Tell us the flight time, pick-up address and number of passengers. We usually reply on the same working day and the quote does not commit you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a taxi from Lahti to the airport cost?

The price is agreed as a fixed amount before you travel and we do not publish a price list. It depends on the pick-up address, the time of day, the vehicle size, the number of passengers and any waiting. The journey is about 110 kilometres. A minivan taxi for five to eight people is often cheaper than two separate cars. Call 040 830 2222 or request a quote for an exact price, usually on the same working day.

How long does the journey from Lahti to Helsinki-Vantaa take?

The roughly 110 kilometre drive usually takes 60–90 minutes. In free-flowing traffic it is closer to an hour, but during weekday morning and afternoon peaks the Lahdenväylä motorway and Ring Road III slow things down. In winter conditions it is worth adding a small buffer. The driver follows the traffic situation and leaves earlier if needed.

When should I leave before my flight?

Add two things together: the drive from Lahti takes 60–90 minutes, and on top of that comes the time you want to spend in the terminal. Your airline sets that part, because check-in and bag drop deadlines vary by airline and by type of flight. Give us the departure time when you book and we will agree the pick-up with you.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

When you give the flight number at booking, the driver tracks the arrival time and moves the pick-up automatically. Waiting caused by a flight delay is not charged, and you do not need to call from the aircraft. If the flight lands early, the driver is there earlier. If a flight is cancelled, we agree a new time or cancel the booking.

Can eight passengers and their luggage fit in one vehicle?

Yes. Our Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Volkswagen Crafter minivan taxis seat 1+8 passengers and the rear has room for suitcases as well as skis or golf bags. Tell us the number of passengers and bags when booking so we assign the right vehicle. A group of more than eight travels in several minivan taxis that leave at the same time.

Can an airport transfer be invoiced to a company?

Yes. We set up an invoicing agreement with a dedicated booking channel, agreed pricing excluding VAT and one consolidated invoice a month. Journeys are itemised by passenger or cost centre on the invoice. An agreement is particularly worthwhile when the same people fly regularly. You will usually have a quote on the same working day.
